I took Milo and Bruno to see Otis who is 13 weeks old now and has doubled in size since I last saw him. Milo and Otis really hit it off, Bruno had a quick play and was then more interested in getting a fuss from Diane. They had a good romp around the house and we took them for a short walk in the local park.

I visited my friend Diane today to see her 8 week old puppy. He is gorgeous and brought back a lot of puppy memories from when Milo and Bruno were this size. I will hopefully be taking them round to meet him in a couple of weeks time.

The moment of truth

I faced the scales when I returned from the Christmas holidays expecting bad news, but not quite as bad as it was - 1 stone gained since I last weighed myself at the beginning of December, tipping the scales at 16 stone 2 lb!

The good news is that I have lost 10lbs by doing the Cambridge diet for 3 days this week. I have gone back on food this morning - Porridge, bananas and apples which tasted delicious after 3 days of cambridge bars.

I will be carefully counting my calories over the next few weeks to try and drop another stone.

I think this gets the Purple Book Award 2010 , helped a bit as its fresh in my memory having only just finished it yesterday. Equally good were Down to a Sunless Sea by David Graham, Skeletons by Al Sarrantonio and World War Z by Max Brooks. I'm reading Rage by Stephen King at the moment - another one in his Bachman books omnibus. Still just enough time for it to make it onto 2010's list if I spend the day reading.
